TRANSDEV PRESENTS 2012 GOLDEN STAR AWARDS

Veolia Transdev Australasia today awarded the Golden Star Awards for 2012. The Veolia Transdev awards are an internal initiative, which recognises staff members who epitomise the five company values – Safety, Commitment, Partnership, Passion, and Performance.

The inaugural program invited staff from the Australasian businesses to nominate colleagues who live and breathe the values. An impressive 52 nominations were received from across the Veolia Transdev operations. All nominations were of a particularly high calibre and deciding the winners took the selection committee several hours of deliberation.

All five winners were flown to Melbourne to attend the award presentation and lunch today.

The winners of each category were:

  • Safety – The ‘Mandurah Fabulous Four’, Khui Tham, Michael Bayliss, Peter Brooks, Luciano Ramano, WA –solution to the hazard of refuelling a bus in traffic
  • Commitment - Narendra Kollipara – Auckland – saving a life on the rail network
  • Partnership – Lawrence Foakes, Auckland - Rail Safety Song
  • Passion – Godfrey Bonavia, WA – exceptional customer service story
  • Performance – Leanne Garland, NSW – communicating with staff and implementing communication programs.

Due to the high standard of nominations two additional awards were given as highly commended:

  • Safety - Mike Earle and Sally Rutherford – Brisbane Ferries – a life saving moment on a CityCat
  • Performance – Darryl Macgraw – Sydney Light Rail – incredible work ethic.

Jonathan Metcalfe, CEO Veolia Transdev Australasia, congratulated all winners, all nominees and those who nominated, he said ‘...it was particularly impressive and heart warming to read through so many wonderful nominations from across Australasia and we are delighted to recognise these employees for their hard work and dedication. Our ongoing priority is to provide our customers with a safe, comfortable and reliable experience when they travel with us. So it is wonderful to have these people recognised for helping us achieve this goal.’

Veolia Transdev is using the program to promote the company values and their associated behaviours and plans to continue and enhance the program in coming years. The awards are just one part of the overarching Australia and New Zealand Values Campaign.
