SYDNEY LIGHT RAIL SERVICES PARTIAL CLOSURE DUE TO POWER OUTAGE

Transdev Sydney would like to apologise to customers affected by the partial closure of the Sydney Light Rail network, between Lilyfield and Dulwich Hill, due to a supply issue at Lewisham West substation.

The cause of the power failure is still being investigated.

Tony Ralph, Light Rail Implementation General Manager, Transdev Sydney, said, “At this stage we suspected that a software failure is preventing the new substation from operating.

“Due to the substation’s location on the network we are unable to operate light rail services beyond Lilyfield.

“Engineering and maintenance crews are working to identify and rectify the issue.

“Safety is our highest consideration, so we cannot operate services until the fault is thoroughly identified, investigated, rectified, and tested as safe.

"Until we identify the issue we cannot estimate how long until full services resume."

Until the issue is resolved buses are replacing light rail services between Lilyfield and Dulwich Hill until further notice. Customers can also check signs and information displays at light rail stops for details of their closest replacement bus stop.

Customers can also use their light rail tickets to access buses, CBD and Inner West Line trains at no extra cost.

Light rail services between Central and Lilyfield, continue to operate as normal.

“We will continue to ensure customers receive timely network status updates via the Transport for NSW Transport Management Centre, the transportnsw.info website and 131500 Infoline,” Mr Ralph said.
